WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON?

As part of Community Living Huronia’s Workplace Wellness initiative, the Senior Management Group is committed to, and has embraced, the “FISH Philosophy.

The philosophy has nothing to do with fish - rather, it’s a way of life that is spirited on a set of four, simple, interconnected principles that everyone can tailor to their own life and work. It’s based on the real life experience of Pike Place Fish in Seattle, world famous not only for their fish, but for embracing this philosophy and changing their work culture.

Imagine a workplace where everyone chooses to bring energy, passion, and a positive attitude to the job every day. The “FISH” Philosophy environment is created with the 4 interconnected principles - play, make their day, be there, and choose your attitude.

We’ve started introducing the philosophy in the agency with visuals (fish everywhere), showing the video and by talking about it. Over the next several weeks and months, we will attempt to connect the “FISH” Philosophy to our agency and inspire people to become engaged as we guide them on this journey.

If someone give you a fish
The purpose of giving you this FISH! is so that you can wear it
and in turn give it to someone that MAKES YOUR DAY!

Were you wondering what the FISH! Philosophy means?

"OUR WORKPLACE"

As you enter this place of work please choose to make today a great day. Your colleagues, customers, team members, and you yourself will be thankful. Find ways to play. We can be serious about our work without being serious about ourselves. Stay focused in order to be present when your customers and team members most need you. And, should you feel your energy lapsing, try this sure fire remedy: Find someone who needs a helping hand, a word of support, or a good ear - - and make their day!

NEWS - STARFISH AWARDS

The Awards were inspired by the PLAY Principal of the Fish! Philosophy. They were prepared as a result of the Goal, Mission and Operational Beliefs of Community Living Huronia, as well as the Values & Principles of the Central East Regions.

They are a means of celebrating the successes of staff and individuals employed and supported by Community Living Huronia.

The Awards are named, the Community Inclusion Starfish Award, the Person Centered Starfish Award, and the Dreams Starfish Award.  The criterion for each award was developed by FISH!
