Human Resources Generalist


Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Permanent Full Time Human Resources Generalist, provides support for all Human Resources functions with a key focus on developing and implementing key strategies to seek both active and passive candidates in a highly competitive job market. They will also develop and execute strategies and processes to ensure the effective delivery of talent management initiatives and programs to support succession planning and organizational development. This position is based in the Midland office.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Responsible for full-cycle recruitment including improving employer brand, sourcing potential candidates through career events, social platforms and professional networks, developing ads, screening resumes, developing interview guides, chairing interview panels, checking references, preparing appointment letters, and managing the timely completion of recruitment competitions, as required
  • Responsible for all stages of an employee lifecycle, including onboarding, New Staff orientation, employee recognition and off boarding activities. Makes recommendations regarding changes to the presentation content and delivery methods of orientation
  • Promotes positive organizational culture and employee experience through the coordination of Engagement and Diversity Equity and Inclusion initiatives
  • Researches, develops and implements directly or in collaboration with internal or external resources, HR training programs for management and employees. Assesses the effectiveness of training in terms of employee accomplishments, performance and engagement
  • Consults with management on performance, organizational and leadership matters. Conducts needs assessments to determine measures required to enhance employee job performance and organizational performance.
  • Assists with labour relations matters and provides advice and interpretation with respect to the administration of the collective agreement, as required
  • Assists in the development, maintenance, and implementation of policies and procedures

To be considered as a candidate, the successful applicant must have the following minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Post-Secondary Human Resources Management Certificate or relevant discipline required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience performing full cycle recruitment, employee engagement, and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, as well as facilitating adult learning in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Workplace Health & Safety Legislation, Ontario Human Rights Code, and any other relevant legislation
  • Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels
  • Keen attention to details
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Experience with Surge Learning, Dayforce (Ceridian), ADP an asset
  • Resourceful and flexible
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and records at all times
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From $58,553.24 per year

  • 8 hour shift
