We are child development specialists who provide support to infants, toddlers and children (up to 6 years of age) who have developmental support needs. As Resource Consultants (RCs) we assist parents in understanding their child’s growth and development while helping them navigate the early intervention system. Through the development of individual program plans, RCs help coordinate services, assist with funding applications and referrals, and provide support for children’s participation in community programs. Program plans and services may include speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational and behavioural therapy, vision, hearing, psychological assessment, social work and feeding support. Throughout, we respect the values and choices of the family.
Resource Consultation services aim to provide culturally sensitive and inclusive services. We have a diverse group of Resource Consultants who are able to provide developmental information for families and childcare centers across Simcoe County. It is our hope that we can continue to diversify our Team of Resource Consultants to provide inclusive services to families of various backgrounds and ethnic origins. Francophone and Indigenous Resource Consultants are available to provide cultural supports within the scope of Resource Consultation services.
Resource Consultants also attend Early Learning Programs to facilitate inclusion and assist your child in using strategies of support. Additionally, RCs will model and teach strategies to Early Learning Professionals (childcare staff) through scheduled visits and planned meetings. These are offered in licensed childcare settings as well as community-based programs throughout Simcoe County. We have offices in Midland, Alliston, Barrie, Bradford, Collingwood and Orillia.
